We are getting along in April pretty fast. Last week was the county show and I will be posting results as soon as I get all of them. I do know we had the overall Reserve Champion pig and steer and Champion High Point Sr. in the project show. This week we are working on the rodeo and events. Hope to have a big turn out and an awesome time. Looking forward to Sat
Well guess we all made it through March and Houston. Hancock is still hanging in there and getting ready for Henderson County Livestock Show next week. HCLS will be next week, beginning with Monday and the horse show and crowning of the 2012 Queen and Princess. Then Tuesday all events will be in full swing, so make plans to stop by and see what all the youth have been working on this past year. Lots of hard work will be shown next week. The Saturday after livestock show, April 21, 2012 we will be hosting the Clyde Dalrymple Memorial Open/Youth Rodeo, so be sure to check out what we are doing that day. We will start the morning with the Ranch Sorting and end with the rodeo. We will be doing ticket and t-shirt presales on all Malakoff campuses this time to see how this goes, so be sure to get your orders in before the 17th. Order forms will go out next week. If you do not have a child in school and would like to preorder you tickets and shirt just send us a message here or [email protected]. Looking forward to a great month! Good luck to all the students participating in the livestock show and project show. Hope to post pictures the following week.
We have a lot going on here at Malakoff Young Farmers. This week marks the beginning of Houston Livestock Show. Poor Mr. Hancock will be on the road for the next two and half weeks nonstop. He will take one group down, return for another group to go down, bring a group back, take down another group, return for yet another group, and then return home with the last group. So here is to safe travels for Mr. Hancock and we are looking forward to a great show. Good luck to all our exhibitors also! Once we return from Houston it is on to prepare for Henderson County Livestock Show, April 9 14, 2012. Looking forward to a great show then also. Mr. Hancock will have his hands overflowing this year with 9 head of heifer, 6 head of steers, 3 pens of commercial heifers, 4 goats, 2 lambs, and 29 pigs. Not to mention all the horse show entries, project show entries, and the 5 young ladies in the Princess and Queen contest. Boy are we growing!
Not only are the students involved growing so are our events as you will see here. The Saturday after livestock show we will be hosting our Annual Spring Stampede Open/Youth Rodeo and our 1st Annual FFA Benefit Ranch Sorting. Check out the individual pages for more information on these events. Then we will be off for a week before holding our 1st Play Day. We are working to get the youth more involved in agriculture one event at a time. Whether it we with livestock, project show, or equine events. Others do not want to work with the animals they just want to help out at the events and this is great at helping us and teaching them responsibility and wor We had a great turn out for our first horsemanship practice for the Queen's contest. All seven young ladies showed up and everyone did an excellent job. Keep up the good work girls!! We have also nailed down everything except concession stand for the rodeo on Oct. 8, 2011. Hope to see everyone there and hope to have a lot of riders. I will be taking call in entries on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 and Tues., Oct. 4, 2011 at 9032928553. Looking forward to an outstanding event.
